Ole Miss baseball is back to .500 for the year after a series win over High Point. But, basketball took one on the chin against South Carolina Saturday. On this edition of “The Flagship”, presented by College Corner, Grayson Weir joins us to recap it all.

OMSpirit’s Jake Thompson recapped the offensive explosion against High Point.

“Over the final two games of the first home series of the 2024 season the Rebels hammered High Point for 37 runs and needed only 12 combined at-bats to do so. Saturday and Sunday’s games were cut short early due to run-rules,” Thompson said. “After a quick 4-0 start in Saturday’s game Ole Miss finally broke through for eight more runs and a 12-2 victory, snapping a four-game skid. On Sunday the game was over before it really started with an 11-run first inning by the Rebels (4-4) en route to a 25-2 win.”

Despite the setback Saturday, basketball is still First Four Out.

OMSpirit’s Ben Garrett sets the table for the homestretch.

“Ole Miss fell to 19-8 overall and 6-8 in SEC games. The Rebels get SEC-leading No. 11 Alabama next Wednesday. Ole Miss matched the program’s best-ever start (13-0) to open the season,” Garrett said. “However, the Rebels have stumbled since the calendar flipped to January and they opened their SEC slate.”
