2026 Buford (Ga.) defensive back Nascar McCoy has committed to Ole Miss, he announced Friday night. He picked the Rebels over finalists like Georgia, Miami and Michigan.

His official visit last month sealed the deal for the Rebels to score his commitment. The announcement came a week after the Rebels landed four-star defensive back Craig Tutt out of Tennessee.

“Amazing, again. It was a lot of great things,” McCoy told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman of the Ole Miss visit. “They just showed me how stable they are, how big the system is to them, and the system is very good to me. When the system doesn’t change in the school, just shows how much you can trust in that school. So Ole Miss is definitely a school that I can trust in and I can feel myself in it.”

Head coach Lane Kiffin, defensive coordinator Pete Golding, safeties coach Wes Neighbors, and secondary coach Bryan Brown spent plenty of time with him on his official visit. The Rebels don’t usually recruit players constantly, focusing on their own roster, but McCoy has seen them step up for him.

“I feel like I fit pretty well. Ole Miss does a lot with their safeties being versatile,” McCoy said. “They love their safeties to come in versatile. When a player like me, they say like, you can play this position, this position, that position. It just helps you get to the end goal, right? Being a versatile safety is a high looked at safety and I just want to get to my top goal.”

“Ole Miss is not a school where they contact you a lot or anything,” he added. “I just heard a lot of reviews from other kids, but like they’ve definitely got on their horse to where I know that I’m a top priority for them and I’m a guy that they really need and want.”

What stands out about Ole Miss overall?

“The community,” McCoy said. “It’s like a little hallmark town where you can be able to focus on yours goals and aspirations.”

According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, he’s the No. 475 overall prospect in the country, No. 39 safety in the nation and No. 51 prospect in Georgia.
