Ole Miss men's golf earns program's first No. 1 seed in NCAA Tournament

For the first time in program history the Ole Miss men’s golf team enter the NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed.
The Rebels were announced as one of the six 1 Seeds on Wednesday in next month’s tournament. This is the highest seed they have earned, passing last year’s 2 Seed in the Stanford Regional.
There was potential for Ole Miss to be the No. 1 overall seed, having been ranked the No. 1 team in the country for a lot of the season, but that honor ended up going to Auburn.
Next week the Rebels will head to the Florida panhandle as the No. 1 seed in the Tallahassee Regional to play at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club May 12-14, the home to Florida State’s men’s golf team.

“We have a lot of familiarity with that golf course. We really like it,” Ole Miss coach Chris Malloy said when speaking on The Golf Channel on Wednesday.
“We’ve never been a No. 1 seed so that probably tells you all you need to know. From top to bottom we’ve had the same starting lineup throughout the year. I think each of these guys have gone through some highs, gone through some lows and it’s made them better.”
Ole Miss has tallied three wins on the season, the most since 2016-17. The Rebels have finished inside the top two seven times and six six players have carded at least one top five finish. Ole Miss has 21 rounds under-par, tied for the second most in a single season in program history. The Rebels have posted the second lowest 54-hole score in program history twice this season.
