Ole Miss Odds and Ends: Men's tennis' Lukas Engelhardt and Finn Reynolds No. 2 in March 9 ITA Rankings

Staff & Wire Reports | Ole Miss men’s tennis received the No. 20 ranking in the updated ITA poll. Lukas Engelhardt and Finn Reynolds climbed towards the top, coming in at No. 2 in the double rankings with two other Rebels also ranking in singles on Wednesday.
Engelhardt and Reynolds moved up from No. 6 to No. 2 in the ITA National Doubles Rankings. Reynolds is now one ranking away from placing at the top of the doubles leaderboards for the second consecutive season. The Rebel duo did not have a result versus No. 2 Tennessee (now ranked No. 1), and led 5-4 over No. 9 Emile Hudd and Shunsuke Mitsui prior to their match being halted due to the Volutneers clinching doubles.
The Rebels top doubles duo has earned a 10-1 record this season, all at the No. 1 position. Engelhardt and Reynolds are 2-0 versus ranked teams in 2022 and are also in the midst of having an eight-match win streak.
The Rebels placed two individuals, Nikola Slavic and Jan Soren Hain, in the ITA Singles Rankings. Slavic fell from No. 18 to No. 21 after suffering a third-set tiebreak heartbreaking defeat to Tennessee’s Adam Walton last Sunday. Hain slots into the rankings at No. 104, earning his first individual placement of the season. He has earned an 8-5 overall record this season including a 5-3 record in dual singles matches.
Ole Miss fell in the ITA Team Rankings from No. 14 to No. 20 after falling 6-1 to Tennessee. The Rebels are among five other SEC programs to rank in the ITA top-20 in the newest rankings.
Women’s tennis’ Machalova No. 79, Leclercq-Ficher No. 110 in New ITA Singles Rankings
Ole Miss women’s tennis placed two singles players and one doubles team in the newest ITA individual rankings. The Rebels fell to No. 52 in the ITA Team Rankings released on Wednesday.

No. 1 Singles player Sabina Machalova moved up from No. 105 to No. 79 in the ITA Singles Rankings. Machalova went 1-1 over the weekend, defeating Tennessee’s No. 39 Tenika McGiffin 7-5, 6-7, 1-0, and falling to Georgia’s No. 42 Lea Ma 6-3, 1-6, 5-7. Machalova now has a 15-8 overall record this season (5-3 in duals) and carries a 5-5 record versus nationally ranked opponents.
Reigning SEC Freshman of the Week Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher earned the first individual ranking of her collegiate career after earning her biggest win yet at No. 23 Tennessee on Sunday. She defeated No. 30 Rebeka Mertena in three sets, 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 to earn her second ranked victory of 2021-22. Leclercq-Ficher fell in straight sets to No. 22 Mell Reasco last Friday. She now has a 10-6 overall record this season and a 5-2 record in duals.
Ludmila Kareisová and Kelsey Mize fell from No. 22 to No. 53 in the ITA Doubles Rankings. The two Rebels have yet to pair together during the dual season.
Ole Miss decreased six spots from No. 46 to No. 52 in the ITA Team Rankings. The Rebels have earned a 6-4 overall record through the first 10 duals of the season.
The Rebels next face LSU at home on Friday at 3 p.m. CT.
