Not since 2021 has Ole Miss played postseason baseball at home but that changes next weekend.

For the first time in four years there will be a NCAA Baseball Tournament Regional played at Oxford-University Stadium. Oxford was announced as one of the 16 host sites by the NCAA on Sunday.

Ole Miss is one of eight Southeastern Conference teams to host a Regional this year. Athens (Georgia), Auburn (Auburn), Austin (Texas), Baton Rouge (LSU), Fayetteville (Arkansas), Knoxville (Tennessee) and Nashville (Vanderbilt) are also hosting Regionals.

Mississippi will be the home for two of the 16 Regionals as Southern Mississippi will also host in Hattiesburg.

Entering this week the Rebels needed a win, which became needing two then three, and secured them all making a run to the SEC Tournament Championship game on Sunday. They lost to Vanderbilt, 3-2.

For Hunter Elliott it will be the first time the Tupelo native gets to play postseason baseball in Oxford.

“It would mean a lot. I’ve never played postseason baseball in Oxford. I’ve heard it’s truly special,” Elliott said on Sunday after the SEC Tournament championship game. “It would be one of the best environments in college baseball next weekend. But, yeah, just me being from Mississippi I grew up going to a ton of games, going to some really cool postseason games. It would mean the world for me to play in one.”

This will be the 11th time Ole Miss hosts a Regional since 2004. The Rebels advanced to a Super Regional seven times in the previous 10 Oxford Regionals.

Ole Miss will learn what National Seed it is and the three other teams coming to Oxford during Monday’s NCAA Baseball Tournament selection show at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN2
