WATCH: Highlights of 4-star Ole Miss commit Landon Barnes

Duncanville (Tex.) edge Landon Barnes committed to Ole Miss on Monday, giving defensive line coach Randall Joyner one of the nation’s top prospects. The 6-4, 245-pounder picked the Rebels over finalists Ohio State and Washington.
Barnes helped Duncanville to the Texas 6A D-I state semifinals as a junior and once again, the Panthers have one of the top programs in all of Texas. He hopes to close out his high school career with a state title.

His father enjoyed the family environment in Oxford that the Rebels showed off when Landon and his family were taking his Ole Miss official visit.
“We were impressed by the family environment, especially Coach Joyner,” Landon’s father, LaVance, added. “Coach Joyner took time out with him this weekend, talking with him, talking with us, showing him how they wanted to use them in their defense. And it was like a seamless transition from the things that he learned here in Duncanville, stuff he trained on.

He’s thinking it’s something new, but it’s something that he’s already been doing. And so it kind of like, after he realized like, ‘Dad, I get it here.
