A big recruiting weekend just got bigger for Dan Lanning and the Ducks. 2026 On3 Industry 5-star Lawrenceville (GA) Grayson linebacker Tyler Atkinson will take his official visit to Oregon this weekend, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

This development comes on the heels of 5-star Spring Valley (Calif.) Mount Miguel cornerback Brandon Arrington Jr. announced on Tuesday he had moved his official visit to this weekend. He was previously scheduled to take his official visit with the Ducks on June 20 prior to a July 5 commitment.

Atkinson is On3’s No. 1-ranked linebacker and the No. 19 prospect in the On300 rankings. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder has taken one official visit so far and that was to see Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers in Death Valley last weekend.

Now one of the best in the Peach State state returns to Eugene for the first time since March, when he took an unofficial visit across the country to see Oregon during spring football. Following that trip, he told ScoopDuck that the Ducks checked a lot of his boxes.

“Coach Lanning and I have had an ongoing relationship since I was in the seventh, going to eighth grade,” Atkinson said. “His vision is different. He believes. I really like the defensive mindset that Coach Lanning, Coach Tosh (Lupoi), and Coach B-Mike (Brian Michalowksi) have.”

The Navy All-American has not officially announced a group of top schools, but others like Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia and USC are all heavily pursuing the top linebacker in the land.

Oregon has one linebacker commit in the 2026 in 4-star Ventura (Calif.) standout Tristan Phillips and they’d like nothing more than to pair Atkinson with him on this defense. Other linebacker targets the Ducks are still recruiting this cycle include 4-star Owings Mills (Md) McDonough linebacker Nick Abrams II, 4-star Torrance (Calif.) Bishop Montgomery linebacker Kenneth Goodwin III, 4-star Baton Rouge (La) Central linebacker JaMichael Garrett and 3-star Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton linebacker Beau Jandreau.
