Conference Championships Make for Some Great CFB Action

Oregon Duck Washingtonby: Justin Hopkins4 hours ago

Well Duck fans, now that the recruiting dust has seemingly settled, we can get back with some actual football games. Although it has been a pretty exciting week, I’m looking forward to some great games this weekend.

Although it would be better if Oregon was playing in the Big Ten championship, it’s hard to argue there would be very much benefit for Oregon in terms of playoff seeding. The Ducks sit in a good spot currently at No. 5.

But let’s take a look at some action for this weekend which actually starts Friday evening.

Troy @ (25) James Madison

Friday 4 PM PST – ESPN

Feels like James Madison should roll here but they did see their head coach, James Chesney, leave for UCLA. They will be led by Billy Napier next season. JM is a 20+ point favorite, easy dub.

Kennesaw State @ Jacksonville State

Friday 4 PM PST – CBSSN

I know I won’t watch this game and I have no clue about these teams. Spread favors K State by 2.5 points so there you go.

(24) North Texas @ (20) Tulane

Friday 5 PM PST – ABC

Now we’re talking. Some playoff implications and two ranked teams. A 2.5 point spread here that favors North Texas. This should be a tight one, I’m riding with North Texas to get the win for Eric Morris before he takes the OK State job.

UNLV @ Boise State

Friday 5 PM PST – FOX

(11) BYU @ (4) Texas Tech

Saturday 9 AM PST – ABC

The Big-12 needs Tech to win. BYU needs a win to fight for a playoff spot. The problem is, I don’t think they will. Give me Tech to start the day with a two touchdown win. 35-21

Miami (Ohio) vs Western Michigan

Saturday 9 AM PST – ESPN

No playoff implications here. And frankly we’ll all be tuned into the other game. So pick one, I’ll go with Western Michigan.

(3) Georgia vs (9) Alabama

Saturday 1 PM PST – ABC

Georgia is only favored by 2.5 points. I think that’s easy money in my book. Alabama struggles running the ball on the ground and Georgia is playing its best football of the season. Dawgs roll, 25-17.

(2) Indiana vs (1) Ohio State

Saturday 5 PM PST – FOX

This should be a good one. I still have trouble believing Indiana is built to compete with Ohio State but by saying that means Oregon isn’t as good as we think. I think all three of them are close but styles make game. Bet we have a game late with Ohio State getting it done. 31-27 Ohio State.

Duke vs (17) Virginia

Saturday 5 PM PST – ABC

The battle for ACC supremacy. Oregon’s potential first round matchup could be one of these two depending on how things shape up. So I’d give it a look just to get an early scouting report. My money is on Duke, 28-24.
