Dan Lanning Provides Injury Update on Trio of Oregon Players

Head coach Dan Lanning met with reporters in Eugene on Wednesday for his bye week press conference and provided a number of updates on the No. 6 Oregon Ducks.
That included a trio of updates on injured players, starting with redshirt sophomore quarterback Dante Moore, who missed most of the second half against the Wisconsin Badgers last week after getting shaken up on a big hit.
Dante Moore
Lanning: “He had a good practice today. He was out there rolling. He did a great job.”
Torres’ Take: It’s always good news to hear that your starting quarterback is practicing. It sounds like it’s business as usual for Moore after Brock Thomas came in to keep the offense churning and lead Oregon to a 21-7 win over Wisconsin.
Evan Stewart
Lanning: “We’ll keep evaluating it. When he’s ready, we’d love to have him out there. But there’s still some progress that has to happen there.”
Torres’ Take: Lanning was asked about Stewart’s return to the field and what a ramp up would look like for the dynamic receiver. Stewart is coming back from a torn patellar tendon injury he suffered in June, so it’s no surprise that Oregon is being cautious with his return. The November schedule won’t be an easy one for the Ducks, who would certainly welcome the former 5-star back to Ross Douglas‘ receiver rotation along with Dakorien Moore, Malik Benson and Gary Bryant Jr. among others.
Trey McNutt
Lanning: “There’s certainly a possibility.”
Torres’ Take: Lanning was asked whether or not there’s a possibility the true freshman and former 5-star safety returns this season. The head coach was short and sweet with his answer, more or less saying that the door is still open for him to see action this season after suffering a leg injury in fall camp. Depending on how competitive Oregon’s November games are, I have a hard time seeing McNutt play a lot given how much of the season he’s missed. But you never say never.
