Dan Lanning: "There's 32 teams in the NFL and I want all 32 to want Matayo."

Dan Lanning speaks with the media after Day 11 of Fall Camp

Oregon opened up its first practice of this week on Tuesday. Once again as they will all be, practice was closed to the media.

But Dan Lanning met with media after practice to go over the team and its progress. He was asked about a number of players including returning EDGE Matayo Uiagelelei among others.

Opening Statement:

“Some really good work today from our guys. Got some really good situational football, goal line. Really good progress. Really good energy at practice today and some good work.”

On Austin Novosad:

“The guys just a winner. He’s become really comfortable in our system. He understands it. I think coach Stein and the offensive staff do a good job with that. He’s level-headed. He can make every throw and is really a leader of our team.”

On Ross Douglas:

“I just think Ross is the kind of guy that comes into work ready to work. He brings a lot of experience and knowledge. His energy, his enthusiasm to coach every day.”

On Matt Bedford:

“We’re a better team when we have healthy players out there ready to help us. Matt helps us. He has a great energy and enthusiasm on the field.”

On Gary Bryant Jr.

“Gary looks as good as he’s looked since I’ve been here. He’s always been a very talented player that can help us. It’s just a matter of being healthy. Really pleased with Gary and his progress.”

On Measuring ‘Growth’:

“Better today than we were yesterday. If we make a mistake are we making that same mistake the next day in practice.”

On Matayo’s Versatility:

“You gotta be able to do it all. And that’s one of Matayo’s strengths, is he can do it all. There’s 32 teams in the NFL and I want all 32 to want Matayo. That’s because he has position versatility. The same with Teitum (Tuioti) and Blake Purchase who’s had a great Spring so far. “
