On Monday morning Oregon fans were buzzing about a new Crystal Ball prediction made on 247Sports. Steve Wiltfong made a new pick on Downey (Calif.) quarterback Nico Iamaleava with a confidence level of 6.

It is the only pick on his 247Sports profile at this time. No further explanation behind the pick is available at this time.

On3 also updated its own rankings Monday morning making Iamaleava the No. 5 overall player nationally.

Nico Iamaleava moves up to No. 5 overall, closing the gap on (Arch) Manning and (Malachai) Nelson. The 6-foot-6, 200-pounder has a strong case as the top pure arm talent in the cycle. Iamaleava has palpable arm strength that particularly jumps out in in-person evaluations. He has a tight throwing motion for a taller prospect with longer arms and the ball jumps out of his hand. Iamaleava also moves well and shows the ability to pick up some yards when the play breaks down. His games at Downey (Calif.) Warren can be a bit hard to parse as his offense relies heavily on short passes, but the natural talent is still quite evident. Iamaleava completed around 60 percent of his passes as a junior for 2,244 yards and 33 touchdowns against just one interception.

Oregon, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee are among the programs in the mix for the five-star.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine also favors Oregon with 53.2-percent chance at landing him. The next closest program is Alabama at 15.7-percent.

Iamaleavea is expected to visit Tennessee and Georgia the first two weekends in March. Alabama could also get a visit with a return trip to Oregon also very much on the table.

As most of you are aware, I made my prediction in favor of Oregon back on February 8 with a confidence level of 50-percent. Here are a few of my notes from that pick earlier this month. (Full Article Link)

Alright, so a small bit of a reach here but not totally. Oregon really did an amazing job with Iamaleava on campus. I know this staff is all in here.

He’s not a silent and I’m only going with a 50-percent pick here. But I do think the Ducks are in a great spot today and getting him back on campus in the Spring is paramount.

Alabama and others will stay in heavy pursuit but something tells me Iamaleava would like to play his college ball out West if he feels like there is a worthy option. He’s very tied in with the top West-coast guys and could play with a few of them at Oregon potentially.
