Five-Star Safety Peyton Bowen Flips to Oklahoma

Well as they say in recruiting, it’s never over until the ink is dry. And that is very much the case in the Peyton Bowen saga.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder from Guyer (Texas) surprised everyone on national signing day picking the Ducks over Notre Dame. In fact, there wasn’t even an Oklahoma hat on the table.
But only 24 hours after that very public announcement, Bowen flipped to the Sooners in fact. It’s one of the wildest recruitments to play out in any recruiting cycle.
Bowen is the nation’s No. 13 ranked player in the country per the On3 Consensus rankings. He is the No. 2 ranked safety nationally.

His commitment to Notre Dame, which started on January 1, continued to be shaky as the Spring and Summer went on. Oregon had hosted Bowen a few times but really didn’t become a player until late in the process.
The Ducks finished incredibly strong on signing day and Bowen was one of those key additions. However it would appear the family had not agreed on a final decision and that led to him changing his commitment to Oklahoma just a day later.
Oregon has the No. 7 ranked recruiting class nationally with 30 commits and 5 transfers. Transfers do not count towards that ranking. Oregon has the No. 30 ranked transfer class so far with those 5 commits.
