Former Oregon cornerback Trikweze Bridges, who started for the Ducks in 2022, has officially found his next career stop.

Monday morning, Bridges announced that he has committed to transfer to Florida. He will have one year of eligibility remaining. In an interview with Gators Online, Bridges said the plan is for him to play safety, rather than cornerback, at Florida.

In five seasons with the Ducks, Bridges has played in 42 career games and recorded 90 tackles, including 53 solo stops, 2.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, and nine pass deflections.

He started every game for the Ducks in 2022 but was surpassed on the depth chart by sophomore Jahlil Florence this season. In 13 games this fall, Bridges played 204 defensive snaps — 22nd most among the Ducks’ defenders and fifth-most among the team’s cornerbacks.

A former 3-star signee, Bridges was tabbed as the No. 435 overall prospect in the 2019 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Bridges is the third former Oregon player to publicly announce his transfer destination. Safety Bryan Addison has committed to transfer to Florida, and receiver Ashton Cozart has committed to transfer to SMU.

More on Oregon’s transfer portal outlook

Few programs in all of college football experienced a greater amount of transfer portal activity than Oregon did during the 2023 cycle.

A total of 30 Oregon scholarship players entered the portal during the previous two transfer windows — 21 in theĀ winterĀ and nine in theĀ spring. Meanwhile, the Ducks added 14 scholarship players during that same period.

Many of their portal additions — including receiver Tez Johnson, cornerback Khyree Jackson, safety Evan Williams, and right tackle Ajani Cornelius — locked down starting jobs and played key roles during the 2023 season.

This offseason, Oregon will once again look for opportunities to improve its roster by way of the portal.

While speaking with reporters during a Fiesta Bowl media availability on Dec. 3, Oregon coach Dan Lanning was asked which players he expects to enter the portal during the offseason.

ā€œThere will certainly be some announcements. I think that’s going to exist on every single team,ā€ Lanning said. ā€œI’ve talked to those guys individually. On the same note, that’s their opportunity to be able to announce that. So I think you’ll see some guys that aren’t with us anymore. And they’ve been phenomenal here for the Ducks, and wishing them nothing but the best. But out of respect for them, I’m going to give them the opportunity to make that announcement.ā€
