I’m back again with another brief update from a fellow Duck fan much like all of you. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Preston a few times and follow his journey on the old Facebook. He’s always one of the most positive people I consistently see in my feed and enjoy seeing his daughter grow.

Here are a few questions and answers from him on being a Duck fan, growing up in Springfield.

1. What were some of the biggest reasons you started becoming an Oregon fan? Was it parent influence or going to school at U of O or something else? How long have you been a fan?

“Being born and raised here in Springfield my family and I are all big Duck fans So I was born into it and it’s never stopped!

2. When did you know you were hooked as an Oregon fan?

“I knew I was hooked at a early age because my dad was a HUGE fan so it just carried over to me.”

3. Do you remember your first game at Autzen? What do you remember about that game if so? What was your favorite game ever at Autzen?

“I do not remember my first game because I was so young, but my favorite game was when we beat Michigan here at Autzen. My ears were ringing for a week after that, that game was so awesome.”

4. Who was your favorite Duck growing up and has that player been replaced as an adult?

“My favorite player is De’Anthony Thomas, he was just so electric! This past summer I took my daughter up to Leaburg lake to fish for some trout. We walk up and De’Anonthy was there fishing as well. We spent around 4 hours right next to him fishing and talking about life, football etc. That was a pretty awesome day.  (fun fact about his recruitment: He told me Oregon never recruited him and he came up here on his own to check Oregon out, he said as soon as he stepped off the plane to the fresh air we have, he decided right then and there that he was going to commit to Oregon)”

5. Do you have a ‘bucket list’ stadium you would like to see Oregon play in?

“I would love to go watch Oregon play Ohio State back there. Now that we will be playing them I will make that happen.”

6. What do you think about the current team and your thoughts on Dan Lanning?

“My current thought its sky is the limit with this team. Dan Lanning has brought so much to Oregon. I just don’t see anything that can’t be accomplished with him leading our team.”

7. Talk to us a bit about your personal life now. Where do you live now and  where did you grow up? What’s one childhood memory (trip or other) you would like to share?

“I am 42 years old. I am a single dad to a beautiful 9 year old girl. I have grown up here in Springfield and never left.”

8.What do you do for work and what do you enjoy most about your job?

“I am one of the mangers for my families business, we own Auto Body Specialties here in Springfield, A&M Auto Body in Eugene and we are turning the old paint ball palace building on 7th in Eugene into a new body shop as well. Which will be Auto Body Specialties of Eugene, that location It will be up and running in about a month.”

9. What are a few things you like to do in your free time? Is there some place you enjoy taking a vacation?

“I’ve played soccer my entire life and its still a big part of it. (I am on 4 indoor soccer teams, 2 men’s and 2 co-ed teams)  I love to hunt, especially in Montana or Wyoming (if we draw tags), fish, go to the dunes and out to the lake. Vacation-wise I love to go down to Mexico for some warm water and beautiful beaches.  Vegas is always fun for a few days also. Another spot we like to go to is Silver Wood Theme Park in Idaho, half water park, half theme park. We have plans to go there in August this year.”

10. Where would you like to retire?

“Well I guess it just depends on where my daughter is at whenever time comes to retire. I do like living here, but I don’t like everything about some of the changes Oregon has experienced. If it is somewhere else then so be it :)”
