Jeremiah McClellan Talks Wide Receiver Competition in Oregon Fall Camp: 'You gotta bring your A-game'
Former 4-star wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Oregon in what was one of the biggest recruiting wins of the 2024 cycle for the Ducks. Now, he’s entering his redshirt freshman season with the Ducks and finds himself in the midst of an intense competition in Oregon’s wide receiver room following veteran departures.
The 6-foot, 195-pound pass catcher met with reporters in Eugene on Friday following Oregon’s eighth practice of fall camp. Below are the key quotes from his media availability.
On flipping from Ohio State during recruitment, what went into his decision
McClellan: “What went into my decision was basically just the connection coach (Dan) Lanning and the staff have here. I really just didn’t feel like I had that connection at Ohio State. So the connection I had here and the way Coach Lanning, Coach (A’lique) Terry, Coach (Will) Stein and the guys that recruited me, just felt like family here.
On what prior contact he had with Ross Douglas, building that relationship
McClellan:” I hadn’t really had any contact or anything like that with Coach Douglas. But getting to know him this past seven to eight months, I really love him as a coach. Great coach.”
On sitting out last year as a redshirt, how it made him better
McClellan: “It was basically just a learning experience. Just watching the guys like Tez (Johnson), Traeshon (Holden) and E-Stew (Evan Stewart), just see what they do and try to implement what they do as far as routine and stuff like that. And put it into my game.”

On which position he feels most comfortable at
McClellan: “Wherever I can make the team the best at. It doesn’t really matter where they put me at.”
On what he’s seen out of the wide receiver room
McClellan: “Everybody’s just competing. There’s a whole bunch of dogs in the room. Everybody really wants it. So every day you gotta bring your A-game. That’s what I would say, everybody gotta bring your A-game.”
On what he’s seen from Cooper Perry
McClellan: “Coop, he’s doing excellent right now. He’s learning the playbook and things like that, starting to read defenses, starting to get more comfortable with the scheme. Coop’s doing really good right now.”
