Oregon will turn to returning starter Kenyon Sadiq this season in the tight end room. Sadiq has been one of Oregon’s more intriguing players, lining up all over the field as an offensive weapon.

Oregon will lose a ton of production from Terrance Ferguson and experience from Patrick Herbert this year. Sadiq talked about those players and his role as the more experienced guy now in the room.

Here is most of what Sadiq had to play with the video included below.

On Being one of the ‘Best Players’ per Will Stein:

“Obviously it means a lot coming from Stein. At the end of the day they’re just words. I still gotta go out there and prove it.”

On Now Being the Veteran of the Room:

“It’s definitely crazy. A lot of changes, growth areas for me. Getting outside my comfort zone. Also the freedom to just go play and make plays. Help out the younger guys.”

On the ‘Standard’ for Tight Ends

“Those guys set the bar really high. For being one of the best tight ends in Oregon history. He (Terrance Ferguson) elevates the standard too. I just gotta go out there and live up to it.”

On Areas of Improvement:

“Being explosive and blocking. Overall speed of game play. Explosive in and out of routes.”

On Becoming More of an In-Line Blocker:

“The biggest part here is me being willing to do that. All those guys are gone. We’re excited and willing to do it. It’s the grit of wanting to go out there and do it.”

On Jamari Johnson:

“JJ has a great attitude and fun to be around. He’s done a great job, he has the ethic of coming in and attacking everything.”
