Kwame Evans Jr Announces Return for Junior season at Oregon

After getting news yesterday that Jackson Shelstad would be returning to Oregon, the Ducks get even more good news with Kwame Evans Jr announcing he is returning for his junior season as well. Oregon now has locked up their two most impactful players with impending decisions and can fully shift to focus on the portal.
Kwame “KJ” Evans Jr certainly didn’t play as much this season as fans originally thought he would, only playing 16.3 minutes per game. However, Evans Jr saw more playing time down the stretch and finished the season averaging 6.1ppg, 4.6rpg, 0.7apg, 0.4spg, 0.6bpg, 1.1topg, and 1.9pfpg. His shooting splits slightly improved from the field and 3-point range, up to 46.5% and 26.9%, respectfully. His free throw shooting slumped from 79.5%, down to 72.3%, but even with less time played he got to the line more frequently.

As things currently sit, KJ is in line to start at the 4, or Power Forward, this upcoming season. When he is playing, he’s one of the most impactful players on the floor due to his defense. I can easily see him getting back to his freshman year numbers of averaging a block, and steal per game.
Now Oregon can fully shift it’s focus back to the portal coming out of the dead period. As I said when the portal opened, I expect them to be aggressive, but am unsure if they were waiting for the impending house settlement before doing so. I’ll continue to provide updates in the pinned thread as I get more information.
