A long dry spell on the recruiting trail has come to an end. On Saturday evening, 2026 4-star Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon EDGE Richard Wesley announced his commitment to Oregon. The top-50 prospect announced his pledge by jumping into a pool with head coach Dan Lanning.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound lineman chose the Ducks while on campus for a visit in Eugene. He chose Oregon over schools like Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State and others.

“I mean I’ve been up there so many times that it feels like I could give tours to other recruits,” Wesley told ScoopDuck following his visit for the spring game. “It’s a home feeling for sure.”

Wesley is ranked the No. 43 player in the On300, the No. 7 EDGE and the No. 7 prospect in California. Earlier this spring he reclassified from the class of 2027 to the 2026 class.

He’s the eighth overall commitment for the Ducks in the 2026 recruiting class and the second EDGE, joining fellow Southern California EDGE Dutch Horisk. The coveted lineman is Oregon’s first commitment in the 2026 class since landing 4-star Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie defensive back Xavier Lherisse in February.

Now in the fold, Wesley is slated to join an EDGE room that’s overflowing with talent in Eugene. That room already features talent like Matayo Uiagalelei, Blake Purchase, Elijah Rushing, Ashton Porter and Nasir Wyatt.

The newest Duck recently earned his invite to the 2026 Under Armour All-American game after a strong performance at the camp series’ stop in Los Angeles.
