Dan Lanning: "Always looking for more of that."

On Saturday Dan Lanning met with media following an Oregon scrimmage. Of course that scrimmage was closed to media. But Lanning made a few comments about the performance of the team in that scrimmage.
Lanning also has been connected to a rumor involving the saga with Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava. In the latest drama, Iamaleava opted to enter the transfer portal and some believe Lanning was the one to let Tennessee staff know he was ‘being shopped’ for better offers. Lanning was asked about that in the presser but quickly declined any comment on the rumor.
Here is the bulk of his comments below with the full video included at the bottom.

Opening Statement:
“Beautiful day in Eugene. It was a great day for some football. I thought our guys went out there and had competitive toughness. Operated fairly clean, still some things to clean up. Some explosive plays on offense. Some pursuit on defense.”
On Leadership:
“Saw some of that. Still want to see more. Always looking for more of that.”
On back and forth:
“An example of that, the ball was backed up 3, 4 yard line. Had an explosive touchdown shortly after that. That’s what you want to see out of Spring ball, good back and forth. Just some good competitive periods today.”

On Physicality:
“We’re tackling. You gotta practice that. Anxious to watch that and see what shows up.”
On the QB’s:
“Efficiency. Who can operate and keep the ball ot of jeopardy. Thing about quarterback you gotta get everyone lined up. Understand protections. Who’s creating touchdowns, make the play of others around them better?
On Pregnon & Harkey
“Both physically gifted guys. There’s very few teams I’ve been around that has an O-line like our O-line. They work hard and there’s a lot of room for progress and growth.”
