PODCAST: Oregon Lands Two Big Transfer Portal Commitments

On the latest episode of the Ducks Dish Podcast, ScoopDuck’s Max Torres and Justin Hopkins break down the two newest Oregon commits. Former Purdue safety Dillon Thieneman and former Northwestern cornerback Theran Johnson committed to play for Dan Lanning over the weekend.
Thieneman will have two years of eligibility remaining, while Johnson has just one. Oregon’s secondary projects to look a lot different in 2025 with the expected departures of each starter.
Lanning and the Ducks have been recruiting defensive backs at a high level in each of the past few recruiting cycles, but find themselves going to the transfer portal to raise the floor of Chris Hampton’s secondary.
Thieneman and Johnson are the first two commitments for Oregon in the transfer portal and there will surely be more to come as the Ducks retool and reload their roster for the 2025 season. Both players took official visits to Oregon within the last week, and the staff capitalized on their opportunities by reeling in commitments.
