Oregon guard Jackson Shelstad named Pac-12 freshman of the week

Oregon standout freshman Jackson Shelstad closed out the regular season on a high note and produced one of his best weeks of the season.
Shelstad, the Ducks’ first-year point guard, earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors for his performances during last week’s loss to Colorado and win over Utah.
He is the first Oregon player to win the award since its introduction during the 2019-20 season.
During the Ducks’ March 7 loss to the Buffs, Shelstad led UO with a career-high 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting and also chipped in six assists. Then, during their March 9 win over Utah, he scored 12 points, marking the fourth consecutive game that he has scored in double figures.
“He got a couple of shots down early and got it going,” Oregon coach Dana Altman said of Shelstad following the loss to Colorado. “Any shooter, you get a couple down early and it always helps. I thought he did a really good job there being aggressive when he knew the shots were going and got some pretty good looks.”
