It’s preseason which is time for the hype machine to be running overtime. That includes rankings and preseason watch lists.

One of Oregon’s biggest transfers will be a name to watch this season according to the Maxwell award watch list. This award is given to the best player in college football from this committee.

Running back Makhi Hughes was named to the watch list. The talented back transferred in this offseason from Tulane. Last season he rushed for 1,401 yards and 15 touchdowns. Hughes did not fumble the ball last season.

This season Oregon will likely use multiple running backs to lead its rushing attack. Hughes will be joined by returning running back Noah Whittington, Dink Riggs and others in the backfield.

As a team, Oregon rushed for 2,211 yards and 30 touchdowns on the ground.

Oregon’s last winner was quarterback Marcus Mariota back in 2014.
