The No. 5 Oregon Ducks are primed for a run in the College Football Playoff, fueled in part by an offense that’s averaging 38.17 points and 465.2 yards per game. Two key pieces of that offense earned major honors on Wednesday, as tight end Kenyon Sadiq and offensive lineman Emmanuel Pregnon were named On3 All-Americans by senior college football reporter Chris Low.

Here’s what he had to say about each player.

TE Kenyon Sadiq

Low: “The Ducks were plagued by injuries to wide receivers Evan Stewart and Dakorien Moore this season, but Sadiq filled a huge void in the passing game. He led the team with 40 receptions, and his eight touchdown catches led all FBS tight ends. The 6-3, 245-pound Sadiq is hardly just a pass-catcher. He’s also a punishing blocker.”

Torres’ Take: After scoring a pair of touchdowns against Penn State in the Big Ten Championship last season, this was Sadiq’s breakout season at Oregon. I’d take what Chris said one step further. Not only is Sadiq a great pass-catcher and a punishing blocker, but he’s a downright playmaker. He’s got pretty solid top end speed, but it’s his overall skillset and athleticism that make him one of the biggest “freaks” in college football, routinely hurdling defenders and making difficult catches through contact.

Sadiq received the Kwalick-Clark Award this season, which is awarded to the best tight end in the Big Ten. He’s also Oregon’s first ever finalist for the John Mackey Award, which recognizes the top tight end in the sport.

OG Emmanuel Pregnon

Low: “Pregnon is well-traveled, but he’s made the most of his only season at Oregon after previously playing at USC and Wyoming. A sixth-year senior, the 6-5, 318-pound Pregnon has lined up primarily at left guard but also played some snaps at right guard. He didn’t allow any sacks and is also a mauler in the run game. The Ducks were among the best in the country this season in generating yards before contact.”

Torres’ Take: Pregnon was a plug-and-play transfer that didn’t skip a beat after coming in from USC. He finished the regular season with an 83.2 offense grade by Pro Football Focus, the highest mark of his college career. He finished with an 87.7 pass block grade and an 82.0 run block grade, which are also career bests.

He’s definitely a “first guy off the bus” type of player and his intensity and physicality really set the tone for the Oregon offensive line. He’s right up there with Iapani ‘Poncho’ Laloulu as the most consistent and most imposing force in the trenches for A’lique Terry and the Law Firm.
