Oregon’s recruiting dry spell finally came to an end this weekend. On Saturday, Dan Lanning and the Ducks landed a commitment from 2026 On3 Industry 5-star Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon EDGE Richard Wesley.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive lineman chose the Ducks over schools like Texas, Texas A&M and Ohio Sate among others. Wesley is the No. 25 prospect nationally according to the On3 Industry ranking. The same system ranks him the No. 4 EDGE and the No. 6 player in California.

He announced his decision in epic fashion, jumping into a pool alongside Lanning during a trip out to Eugene this weekend. On this episode of the Ducks Dish Podcast, ScoopDuck’s Max Torres and Justin Hopkins give their reaction to the commitment and analyze what it means for Oregon Football.

Wesley is the second-highest rated pledge in Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class behind only 5-star Reidsville (NC) tight end Kendre Harrison, who was also on campus this weekend for the staff’s Scavenger Hunt recruiting event. His commitment is another massive win on the recruiting trail in Southern California for Oregon. Southern California has given Oregon some great prospects at EDGE in recent years with Kayon Thiobdeaux (Oaks Christian ’19) becoming a first-round NFL Draft pick and Matayo Uiagalelei (St. John Bosco ’23) on a similar trajectory.

The newest pledge in Oregon’s class is the fourth player along the defensive line, joining 4-star Tony Cumberland, 3-star Viliami Moala and 3-star Dutch Horisk.
