Oregon recruiting picked up a major win on Thursday when the Ducks landed a commitment from On3 Industry 5-Star Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman safety Jett Washington. The No. 3 safety in the On3 Industry chose the Ducks from a top three that also included Alabama and USC.

Washington is the nephew of the late Kobe Bryant and he’s a star basketball player as well, leading the Bishop Gorman Gaels to a Nevada 5A state title last season. He took official visits to each of his three finalists, but Oregon got the last trip before he announced his commitment to Dan Lanning and company.

On this episode of the Ducks Dish Podcast, ScoopDuckOn3’s Max Torres breaks down what Washington’s commitment means for Oregon Football and what could be next for Chris Hampton at safety.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound defensive back is the second safety in Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class, as he joins 4-Star Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie safety Xavier Lherisse, who’s been committed to the Ducks since January and took his Oregon official visit last weekend.

With Washington in the fold, Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class ranks No. 7 nationally according to the On3 Industry and No. 3 in the Big Ten trailing Ohio State and USC.
