The No. 1 cornerback in the 2026 class will play his college football in Eugene. 2026 4-star Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian cornerback Davon Benjamin has committed to Oregon.

He announced his pledge to Dan Lanning and the Ducks on Saturday, choosing Oregon from a top group that also included Texas, Michigan, North Carolina and Washington. The Southern California standout took official visits to each of his finalists leading up to his decision.

Benjamin is the No. 22 player in the Rivals300 rankings, the No. 1 cornerback and the No. 3 prospect in California. In 12 games last season he logged 45 tackles and intercepted six passes, three of which he returned for a touchdown and forced two fumbles.

He’s the 17th verbal commitment for the Ducks this cycle and the first cornerback commit for Oregon. Benjamin now joins Rivals Industry 5-star Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman safety Jett Washington, 4-star Winter Garden (Fla.) The First Academy safety Devin Jackson and 4-star Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie safety Xavier Lherisse in the Ducks’ secondary.

“Just kept it real,” Benjamin told ScoopDuck of how Oregon separated themselves in his recruitment. “Kept it real ever since they recruited me. Really just think about the big picture. How they’re gonna use me down the road.”

With Benjamin in the fold, Oregon’s Rashad Wadood and Chris Hampton are likely finished recruiting the defensive back position in the 2026 cycle and boast one of the best secondary haul’s in the country.

Southern California has always been a priority for Oregon on the recruiting trail, and Benjamin is the latest recruiting win for the Ducks, joining 4-star Ventura (Calif.) linebacker Tristan Phillips and 4-star San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln EDGE Prince Tavizon in Oregon’s class.
