QUACK: Four-Star RB Dante Dowdell Commits to Oregon

One of the top running backs in the country has committed to Oregon. Coach Carlos Locklyn was able to land a commitment from Picayune Memorial (Miss.) running back Dante Dowdell.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder is the nation’s No. 277 ranked player and No. 17 ranked running back in the On3 Consensus Rankings. He is ranked much higher with On3 however, No. 190 and the No. 7 running back.

Dowdell visited Oregon in early April. The Ducks made a huge impression on the visit and seemed to put themselves in a great spot to land the four-star.
Here is what Dowdell told our own Jonathan Charles following his Oregon visit.
“I like coach (Carlos) Locklyn,” he said. “Real dude and really want me up there.
“Coach Locklyn wants me to be the next piece to the puzzle. They need a bigger back.”
“I like coach (Dan) Lanning,” he said, “and I see that he wants me up there, too, and start that connection from down south. I am giving them a good look.
Dowdell is commit No. 4 for the Ducks in the 2023 recruiting class. He is the second offensive commit joining wide receiver Jurrion Dickey.
