It’s almost game time but the fireworks are already under way for Duck fans. Moments ago Oregon landed a massive commitment, it’s biggest of the 2024 recruiting class to date.

***ScoopDuck Eval: Breaking down Aydin Breland***

Mater Dei (Calif.) defensive lineman Aydin Breland committed to Oregon over Georgia, Miami and his more than 30 total offers. The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder is the No. 38 ranked player in the On3 Industry Rankings. There are 32 5-Stars in the On3 Industry rankings, Breland just missing the cut by a few spots. He is however the No. 11 overall player with 247Sports and the top player from the state of California.

Breland talked about his decision with On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

“My grandma had recently expressed how she wanted to stay close to home so she can come to a game,” Breland said. “I didn’t consider it a big factor until my grandma made it known it mattered to her.”

“I’m definitely the closest with coach Tosh, coach Dan Lanning, and coach Tony,” Breland said. “They want me to be a 3 to 5 player.”

This is a massive win for Dan Lanning and the Oregon staff on the recruiting trail. The Ducks made a big move in the Spring and early Summer with Breland. However down the stretch Georgia made up ground and really made things close.

Oregon now has 24 verbal commits in this class. Breland joins a very strong defensive line recruiting haul in 2024 for Lanning. The Ducks already have commitments from four-stars Xadavien Sims and Jaxson Jones along with three-star Tionne Gray.
