QUACKKKKK - Oregon Lands Five-Star EDGE from SEC Territory

A MASSIVE commitment was just announced for Oregon on the Pat McAfee show. This time Dan Lanning and his staff have made some serious noise on the recruiting trail and once again in the state of Alabama.
Moments ago St. Paul’s Episcopal (Ala.) EDGE Anthony (Tank) Jones announced his commitment to Oregon. Listed at 6-foot-3, 245-pounds, Jones is the No. 22 ranked player overall in the Rivals Industry rankings and the No. 4 ranked EDGE. For the second straight year, Oregon currently has the commitment from the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Alabama.
Jones previously spoke with our Max Torres about why Oregon remained a contender.
“It’s far away from home, so I feel like it’ll definitely be a great opportunity for me to grow and just be uncomfortable and just grow in situations. I feel like the scheme they got set up for me will be great for me also. Especially seeing like the EDGES they got eating. Coach (Dan) Lanning and coach Tosh Lupoi, they do a great job of just making everything simple and just letting the edges go eat for real. I feel like me going up would be a great fit for me also.”
The Ducks were able to beat out some heavyweights for Jones. Texas A&M and Alabama were the two finalists ahead of his announcement, but Jones had every offer on the table. He’s one of the elite players in the country.

As we round out July, Oregon now has 16 verbal commits in the 2026 cycle. Jones is the fourth defensive line commitment for the Ducks, joining 4-star Eugene (Ore.) Willamette defensive lineman Tony Cumberland, 4-star San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln EDGE Prince Tavizon and 3-star Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco EDGE Dutch Horisk. This addition should be enough to move Oregon up from its No. 7 ranking.
The Ducks now wait to hear from the upcoming decisions from four-star cornerback Davon Benjamin and four-star defensive lineman Deuce Geralds. Both are expected to announce their decisions on Saturday, August 2. At the moment, Oregon appears to be the teams to beat for both.
