The Ducks have an interesting schedule to start their B1G campaign. There are some intriguing matchups coupled with old rivalries from a conference that is no more.

It would appear we have put most of the coaching changes and major roster movement behind us. It’s been quite an interesting last couple of months. This list looked different in December than it does today.

Here is my order of toughest games for Oregon ranked in reverse order. There shouldn’t be any surprise at the top with the Ducks set to host one of the biggest games in college football in October.

12. Idaho (8/31) – A nice little tune up to start the season. Don’t feel bad, everyone is doing it.

11. @ Oregon State (9/14) – It’s going to be a rough few years at Oregon State. I have a lot of respect for Jonathan Smith, but he didn’t exactly ‘load up’ the roster with talent.

10. Boise State (9/7) – Boise will probably come in with a little fire under new leadership. This shouldn’t be much of a game but will serve as a nice little test for Oregon early on.

9. @ Purdue (10/19) – Because it’s away I listed Purdue ahead of Boise and OSU. Welcome to Indiana folks.

8. Maryland (11/9) – Probably not much of a game to be had here. But you never know with a new opponent so here is where I put Maryland.

7. @ UCLA (9/28) – No more Chip and I’m really interested to see the Eric Bienemy experiment. I’m sure he’ll do well, but he doesn’t have much to work with. UCLA might want to start doing that recruiting thing soon.

6. Illinois (10/26) – Again a new opponent later into the season. A little more talent than UCLA has currently but not a ton. This will be one of those closer at half games before Oregon runs away with it.

5. Michigan State (10/5) – I had a tough time not putting this one ahead of No. 4. And the only reason I didn’t is simply because of the rivalry. But Jonathan Smith will know this team well and make a game of it.

4. Washington (11/30) – Obviously this would be different with Kalen Deboer still at UW. Jedd Fisch will do his best here but he’s working with a massive talent difference. And it’s a home game for the Ducks.

3. @ Michigan (11/2) – With Harbaugh I probably put this team at two. Sherrone Moore will do well but he lost some great players and really good coaches in the transition. This won’t be 2023 Michigan.

2. @ Wisconsin (11/16) – They will be better and in a hostile environment the Ducks simply don’t know. This is going to be one of the more under-appreciated games nationally.

1. Ohio State (10/12) – Any list that has a different game at No. 1 is not a real list at all. This is the one. Autzen stadium will be ROCKING in October.
