ScoopDuck Roundtable: Score Predictions vs Rutgers

We are officially at the half-way point of the week. Which means its time for our score predictions.
Will the Ducks bounce back in New Jersey? Let’s hope so or we might face a situation like Penn State. I kid.
Oregon is a heavy favorite for this game. Even Greg Schiano admits he’s facing a really tough team with a lot of talent. Let’s see if we all think Oregon rolls this week or if there are bigger concerns ahead.
Corpatty: Oregon 38, Rutgers 28
I think Oregon comes out sluggish traveling cross-country with an Indiana game hangover. So I’m expecting a rough first half with Rutgers even leading at halftime. But Lanning rallies his team at halftime, knowing Oregon needs to run the table to make the playoffs given their lack of quality wins. I think Oregon gets things together in the second half and pulls away late to win by 10.
Brandon Gibson: Oregon 42, Rutgers 13
Oregon is looking to get things right after a disappointing home effort against Indiana. While you have to give credit to Indiana, the offense simply wasn’t good enough against a high quality opponent. Much of that came down to the poor play of Dante Moore, the first time he has experienced growing pains at Oregon. While Moore has all the talent in the world, last Saturday showed why he is likely to return to Oregon next season and I expect him to return to form against Rutgers on Saturday. With the combination of the ground game and Moore finding his playmakers, the Ducks should handle this game rather easily.

Max Torres: Oregon 35 Rutgers 17
Rutgers hasn’t won a conference game yet but they did play Iowa close at home and hung in against Washington for a majority of the game. That said, I see the Ducks bouncing back on the road and sticking to their bread and butter in this one. Rutgers has some good players, but Oregon has more and that should be apparent. They’ll have a chip on their shoulder this week and force a couple of turnovers, which set up the offense with good field position.
Ted Leroux: Oregon 41, Rutgers 13
This feels like a crossroads week for Oregon. Coming off their first loss of the season and heading to the opposite coast presents a challenge, even though the Ducks are several tiers above Rutgers talent-wise. The Scarlet Knights allow the most passing yards per game in the Big Ten — and the most total yards overall — a perfect recipe for Oregon to get its mojo back. I’m predicting a 41–13 bounce-back win for the Ducks.
Jhop: Oregon 37, Rutgers 17
This one won’t quite be the smashing we all envision. I think travel will play a small role. I think both teams will run the ball a fair bit, chewing up the clock. I don’t think the game will really ever be in question once the second quarter gets rolling. This could have been viewed as a trap game initially but I think with the Indiana loss that cancels out any concerns there. Oregon rolls and gets back on track.
