In January, Oregon hosted Modesto (Calif.) Central Catholic defensive back Brooklyn Cheek, whom theOn3 Consensus calls the 662nd-best prospect in the nation and its No. 56 safety for 2024.

Cheek measures 6-foot-2 and 188 pounds. He told ScoopDuck he holds offers from Oregon, California, Washington State and Arizona.

”I’ve heard a lot from Fresno State recently,” he said, “and the schools that have offered me. I’m interested in Cal, Arizona and Oregon.

“Those three are in my top 3 since they aren’t that far from home and my family could come to my games.”

Each of those schools has qualities that stand out to Cheek.

“At Cal, I feel like I’ve made a really good relationship with coach Terrence Brown,” he said. “I like that it is so close to home and my family could be at every game.

“Also, the coaches there really make it feel like I belong there.”

“At Arizona, coach Brett Arce has made a really good impression on me,’ he said, “as well as coach (Chuck) Cecil, because he was a legend at my position.”

And the Ducks?

“Oregon has always been my dream school,” he said, “and their facilities make it 10 times better than I could’ve ever imagined it to be. I really like coach (Chris) Hampton, because he is a new coach there and we were figuring things out together.”

Cheek is still working on setting up spring and summer visits.

“Definitely will be going to Arizona and Cal,” he said, ”but as far as other schools I’m not 100% sure. I’ll also be going to camp at Sac State, so I’m still kind of feeling things out as far as visits.”

As for official visits, Cheek has two schools in mind.

“I’ll probably try to get them done early in June so I can figure things out before my senior season and really enjoy it,” he said. “As of right now, I know that Arizona and Oregon will be places I take official visits to.

“I’ll probably commit this summer.”
