Utah dealing with several key injuries ahead of showdown with Ducks

If the injury news Mario Cristobal delivered Monday is to be taken at face value, No. 3 Oregon will be relatively healthy for its pivotal showdown with No. 24 Utah this weekend.
The Ducks’ upcoming opponent, though, has a few more injury questions at this point.
Three Utah starters left with injuries during the Utes’ win over Arizona last Saturday. Head coach Kyle Whittingham is typically tight-lipped when it comes to discussing injuries, and he shut down questions regarding that topic during his Monday press conference.
“No more injury talk, even with season-ending, because now that we’re a week or two away, it doesn’t make any sense to tip the opponent at all,” Whittingham said on Monday. “We hope for the best, but there will be no injury updates for the rest of the season.”
Starting offensive linemen Nick Ford and Paul Malie both left the Arizona game with injuries, as did starting cornerback Faybian Marks.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Ford appeared to injure his hamstring. But the Utes’ left guard later said that he was simply dealing with cramps and will play against the Ducks.
Maile, Utah’s starting center, was seen on crutches after the game, and Marks was seen on crutches and in a walking boot, according to the same Salt Lake Tribune report.
The Utes are already without star cornerback JaTravis Broughton, who suffered an early-season injury, and Marks has been starting in his place.
