It's Blue-White Weekend: Time, TV info, weather report and more

The final week of Penn State spring practice is here. Head coach James Franklin and his staff will take their team to Beaver Stadium for the Blue-White game on April 13, which will mark the 15th and final practice until preseason camp.

“I think the most important thing is we have to get through the 15 practices and the coaches and the players feel like we have a really good understanding of how we want to play, who we want to play in terms of our depth, and then on top of that, what are our strengths and what are our weaknesses and be able to play to those strengths and be able to work on those weaknesses between now and the start of training camp,” Franklin said in mid-March.

What time, channel, is the Penn State Blue-White game on?

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET. Big Ten Network will televise the game live. Those who wish to stream it can do so by signing up for a BTN+ subscription HERE. The game will also be broadcast on Lionvision for those who wish to listen to the game. Find the feed with Steve Jones and Jack Ham HERE.

What will the weather be like for the spring game?

Rain is no longer in the forecast. But, it will be quite breezy. Weather.com calls for the following forecast on Saturday: “Considerable clouds early. Some decrease in clouds later in the day. High 56F. Winds WNW at 15 to 25 mph. Higher wind gusts possible.” The low is 43 degrees.”

How can I get parking?

All Blue-White game parking passes will be distributed via mobile devices. The program sent out the following news release snippet related to parking:

Parking passes for regular vehicles and RVs for the Blue-White Game were part of the 2023 season parking pass package and are now available in Penn State Account Manager.

The location of the parking pass will be the same location as a season parking pass holder’s 2023 regular-season parking location. The parking pass is only valid for the lot (and space, if applicable) listed on the parking pass. The Blue-White Parking map can be found here.

Fans can purchase a Blue-White Game mobile parking pass in advance of game day for $20 here. Fans attending the Blue-White Game without a parking pass will be charged $20 per regular vehicle, $60 per RV and $60 per bus. Cash or card sales will be accepted at the parking lots. There is ADA parking reserved in the Shields, Wagner and Katz parking lots and a shuttle service will be provided.

RV parking passes were distributed to RV parking pass holders who had season-long RV parking for the 2023 season. All RV parking passes are only valid for the lot displayed on the parking pass. Fans can purchase RV parking for the 2024 Blue-White Game in the ORV lot. Those who arrive to the ORV lot on Friday without an ORV pass will owe $100 for RV two-night parking. Two-night companion car parking for the ORV lot will cost $40.

What else do I need to know to attend?

Parking lots open at 8 a.m. One-way traffic patterns go into effect at 11:30 a.m. Gates A, B, C and E, open at Noon. The university also has a standard bag policy. It is below:

Clear tote bags, which can be sized 12″ x 6″ x 12″ or smaller, will be permitted. In addition, a 4″ x 6″ x 1″ small clutch or wristlet will continue to be permissible.

What are the early Penn State Blue-White game storylines?

–Will Penn State be able to have a traditional spring game as Franklin hoped for? When the Lions started spring practice, he was optimistic that no modifications would need to be made due to health issues or other availability problems.

“We’re hopeful that we’re going to be able to have more of a traditional spring game, which I think has become more and more challenging the last couple of years and to be honest with you in college football, it’s been more and more challenging,” Franklin said. “Seeing a lot of people go away from spring games and have kind of had more of a practice or skills type activity in front of the fans. 
 
“We’re hopeful that we can have more of a traditional spring game, which I think will be really valuable as well. I’m not one of these guys that overly is concerned in hiding too much. The reality is people can watch us last year. They’ve got all the tape. They can watch Vanderbilt special teams tape. They can watch Kansas’s offense’s tape and watch a combination of Indiana and our defensive tape from last year. It’s not like there’s a whole lot of secrets out there.”

–Who will be the big play stars? One or two players always shine at the annual spring event. Our Penn State picks initially will be linebacker Tony Rojas and receiver Trey Wallace.

–Will any freshmen who enrolled in January stand out? We’ll be watching third string quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer the closest.
