Wind of receiver Julian Fleming deciding on Penn State as his transfer destination began with a truck decal. Posting a picture of a new Dodge truck with a Blaise Alexander logo to his social media account in December, the news of the Nittany Lions landing the former Ohio State Buckeye was made official with his announcement on Jan. 3.

Now, that initial clue has come full circle.

Released to YouTube last week, the Blaise Alexander family of car dealerships featured a new commercial with Fleming as its guest star. And in the spot, Fleming, decked out in Penn State gear, pitched the deals his hometown outlet could provide.

Nation takes notice of new Julian Fleming commercial

A 30 second spot loaded with action that includes Fleming smashing a Toyota car window, flipping the same car, then driving over it in a tricked-out Jeep Wrangler, the commercial has since made waves. Among those impressed with the ingenuity of the ad is On3 national college football analyst, Andy Staples.

Featuring the ad on his Tuesday YouTube show this week, Staples insisted that Fleming’s spot is exactly the idea that should be executed in the age of name, image, and likeness deals.

“Honestly, every car commercial should be like that. We’ve entered this age of just awful car commercials,” Staples said. “We need more sledgehammers. We need more people driving over used Camrys. That’s what we need. Those are the ones you remember.”

Taking the concept further, Staples predicted that with a big season, Fleming could be in line for an even bigger commercial with Blaise Alexander in the future. And, serving as a seamless entry into the world of acting, Fleming’s on-screen personal is “natural,” Staples said.

“This is how you do it. First of all, Julian Fleming is a natural for this. He looks so comfortable in this commercial. The car salesmen are trying to keep up with Julian Fleming in terms of acting. He’s Baker Mayfield levels of acting in this commercial,” said Staples. “I’m telling you, if this dude helps revolutionize Penn State’s offense… I realize Andy Kotelnicki, the new offensive coordinator they got from Kansas, he’s drawing up some big plays for him. Drew Allar, waiting to get unlocked.

“If Julian Fleming’s the one who teaches them how to stretch the field, and suddenly they’re a scary offense, I can’t wait for the sequel. Because imagine the budget for the next one if he’s one of the best receivers in the country.”
