Penn State has added another official visit to its schedule this upcoming June, as Blue White Illustrated confirmed on Monday afternoon that safety Zahir Cobb has set an official visit with the Nittany Lions for June 20-22.

Listed at just under 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Cobb was offered by Penn State back in Dec. 2023. The Washington, D.C., prospect then visited three times in the first half of 2024, beginning with a junior day last January. Cobb then came back for a spring practice last April before camping with Anthony Poindexter and the staff last June.

Because his school, St. Albans, played the majority of its games on Saturday, Cobb hasn’t been on campus since. He was able to attend a game at Virginia Tech in October and also went to Virginia in January.

Those two schools, along with Maryland, are the three other programs that he’s set official visits with so far. Virginia Tech was originally planned for June 20-22, but he’s now moved that visit up to May 30-June 1. Cobb will then go to Virginia from June 5-7, followed by Maryland on June 13-15.

A three-star prospect, Cobb totaled 55 tackles, 13 pass deflections and five interceptions last season. He also had 1,265 yards of offense and 16 touchdowns.

Penn State’s Top 2026 Safety Recruits

So far, the Nittany Lions have earned one commitment at the safety position from in-state prospect Matt Sieg. Despite adding an offer from Notre Dame recently, Sieg has held firm with his commitment. There’s no reason to think he won’t end up with the blue and white.

In addition to Cobb, Penn State currently has official visits set with five other safety prospects. Joey O’Brien, from La Salle outside of Philadelphia, has long been considered one of the staff’s most important prospects in the class. After visiting Tennessee this past weekend, O’Brien confirmed with BWI Sunday evening that he also has unofficial visits set to Ohio State (March 27-28), Clemson (March 29-30) and Oregon (April 11-12). All four of those schools are also expected to get official visits.

It’s unclear if O’Brien will get back to Penn State this spring, but he has been to State College six times so far and has an official visit with the Nittany Lions set for May 16-18. That’s also the same weekend that Milton, Fla., native Kaiden Hall and Maryland native Sean Johnson will take an official visit to Penn State.

The Nittany Lions also have two more safeties set to take official visits June 6-8 in Texas native Jordan Deck and Maryland native Darrell Carey. Carey has made it clear that PSU is one of his favorites.

Ohio native Kaden Gebhardt is then expected to visit June 13-15. The Olentangy prospect just wrapped up an unofficial visit to Clemson this past weekend. He’s expected to see Notre Dame on March 22 before returning to Penn State on April 5. Gebhardt confirmed last week that he also plans to attend Penn State’s Blue-White Game on April 26.
