Penn State news, notes, and updates for June 16 include a list of coordinators poised to become head coaches, headlines of the day, and more. That headlines today’s newsstand.

CBS Sports’ David Cobb has a new article out that focuses on current play callers who are potentially on the cusp of taking the next step to become a program leader. Second-year Nittany Lions offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki is one of them.

“Penn State jumped from 53rd to 26th in total offense during Kotelnicki’s first season as coordinator and could be even better in 2025,” Cobb writes. “With his quarterback and top two running backs returning and a receiver room that’s been reinforced with veteran transfers, Kotelnicki has plenty to work with. The 44-year old Minnesota native picked up plenty of insight on how to run a program during his decade of working for Lance Leipold at Wisconsin-Whitewater, Buffalo and Kansas. Now that he’s showing he can handle himself on the sport’s biggest stage and apart from Leipold’s watchful eye, Kotelnicki is starting to look like an attractive head coaching candidate.”

In other news, three Penn State wrestling connections made Team USA on Saturday. Incoming freshman PJ Duke, senior Levi Haines, and NLWC member Kyle Snyder will all compete for their country at the World Wrestling Championships in September.
