Penn State football has announced how the Blue-White game will work on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions will not operate the spring scrimmage finale as they normally do. That’s because of numbers issues along the offensive line and possibly depth challenges at other positions, as well.

“It won’t be a traditional spring game like we’ve had in the past,” Franklin said. “We’re working on a scoring system right now…We’re looking into that. I don’t want to make it overly complicated, but we’re working on that right now.

“More of a practice type structure, but there will be some live periods for the fans and the media to see.”

The Blue-White game will start at 2 p.m. at Beaver Stadium. Big Ten Network will televise the scrimmage. It will also air on the Penn State Sports Network. Fans can access parking lots at 9 am and gates open at 12:30 pm. Parking is unassigned and costs $20 for those without a pass.

How will the Penn State Blue-White game be scored?

Penn State shared on Friday afternoon how the game will be scored.

It will be an offense versus defense scrimmage as opposed to the traditional blue versus white.

Players on offense will wear white jerseys, defense will wear blue, and quarterbacks will wear light blue. Penn State will break the scrimmage into eight different segments, a news release said. Special teams work will take place, as well.

Here is the scoring system according to a news release:

Defense

7 points for defensive touchdown

2 points for a safety

3 points for a fumble recovery

3 points for an interception

2 points for a 3 & out

2 points for a sack

1 point for forcing a punt

Offense

6 points for a touchdown

1 point for an extra point

3 points for a field goal

Franklin previously told BTN what the priorities are for Penn State during the Blue-White game.

“Having an opportunity to continue to evaluate our roster, the quarterback position, running back position, some of our young linebackers that need a bunch of reps,” Franklin said. “We want to continue to be able to evaluate our roster, stay healthy, and then be able to go into the offseason with a really good idea of where we’re at.

“I’ll set up individual meetings with all the players, give them the feedback that they need to work on, and the coaches will all hit the hit the road recruiting.”
