Penn State Quarterback Drew Allar Recaps 2024 Blue-white Game And Spring Practice

Penn State quarterback Drew Allar spoke with the media after the Blue-White Game on Saturday. You can hear some of his comments embedded in this article or on the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel. We’ll recap some of the highlights below.

Preparations for summer work is underway for the Penn State offense

Despite the fact that Allar’s hair was still wet from his postgame shower, he and the offensive players already have an eye on their summer work.

“Yeah, honestly, like we’ve already started, especially with the strength staff since they kind of have to organize it around like the summer workouts and things of that nature. So, I mean, we’ve already been talking with the strength staff,” he said.

But it doesn’t always mean drilling route, timing, and repetition of physical work. Allar and his receivers can put in work with film study to understand what each is thinking on the football field.

“What I think is going to be good for us this year and you know what we need to change from the past few years I’ve talked to Liam [Clifford] and Trey [Wallace] about it a little bit already. [We] haven’t really dove into it too much yet because it isn’t finalized, but we’re gonna have a really good plan of attack this summer. And I think, honestly, it’ll probably be a lot more meeting and film watching together than it will be routes on air.”

Thoughts on the Blue-White Game

The Penn State White team scored 27 points during the scrimmage, but it wasn’t a perfectly clean game. False starts and procedural penalties marred the White Team’s performance. There were also several third and long situations that head coach James Franklin called out during his postgame press conference. However, Allar thinks the mistakes they made today were correctable

“I think the goods outweigh the negatives. And I think the negatives that we did have on the on the field today are really easy and simple to fix and correct. So I think it’d be easy to correct those things.”

Finally, Allar commented on the team’s progress learning Penn State offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki’s offense this spring. He saw noticeable improvement with the offense.

“Just the growth that we made from practice one to practice 15 is definitely on a different levels This year than it has been my first few years here, for whatever reason that may be.”
