Penn State news, notes, and updates for June 14 include a spring standings check-in for the Learfield Cup, plus an NFL nugget and more.

It’s time to dive into Wednesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with the Learfield Cup. The annual honor that is awarded to the nation’s most dominant athletic department will go to Stanford regardless of how the PAC-12 program finishes in the College World Series. On the other hand, Penn State is on track for a top-15 finish. The Lions currently sit at No. 12 in the latest spring standings, which were released on Tuesday. It equals a drop from the winter standings for PSU. The Lions were No. 3 then and sixth after the fall. However, it is, overall, a marked improvement from the 2021-2022 school year, when the Lions finished outside of the top 40.

In other news, former Penn State safety Adrian Amos has a new NFL home. He is leaving Green Bay and signing with the New York Jets, per NFL Network. That, of course, means he is following in the footsteps of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was traded from the NFC North to the AFC East this offseason. The one-year deal is worth up to $4 million, NFL Network reports.

Finally, for this section, PSU Class of 2024 quarterback commit Ethan Gronkemeyer has arrived in Los Angeles and starts his three-day stint at the Elite 11 Finals today. The Ohio native aims to up his stock after picking Penn State in May a day before qualifying for the annual passing academy that brings 20 of the nation’s top throwers together.
