Michigan 3-star 2024 LB Desman Stephens set to visit Purdue Sunday

Purdue is looking to add a few final pieces to its 2024 recruiting class. And it would like one of those to be Desman Stephens.
The 6-3, 225-pound three-star 2024 linebacker from Clarkston (Mich.) High considered Purdue earlier this year before committing to Boston College. But Stephens recently backed off his BC pledge and is back on the market.
“It really came down to seeing what’s out there and making sure I explore every opportunity possible,” said Stephens. “If I’m gonna go to a school, I want to be 110 percent for that school. If there are any doubts, I might as well open it up and see those other opportunities, as well.”
Stephens has been contacted by many schools in recent days. Among them: Louisville, Michigan State and Purdue, where he’ll visit on Sunday after checking out the Michigan at Michigan State game on Saturday.

What about Purdue appeals to Stephens?
“I really just like the coaching staff,” said Stephens, who is still considering BC. “They’re cool. They’re all young, for the most part. They have a nice vibe. I’ve been there multiple times with the new and old coaching staff. The players say good things and it’s not like a fake thing. The players relay the same message that the coaches do. And I like their scheme, and how they want to use me.”
Purdue would deploy Stephens as an inside linebacker in its five-man front defensive alignment.
“With me being bigger, I’m real physical,” said Stephens. “I use my size to my advantage. But I still have the speed to keep up with a slot and the strength to be on a tight end and fit the run, as well.”
Stephens plans to enroll in his school of choice at mid-year. When does he plan to make a decision?
“Probably within a month or so,” he said. “I have a certain time window that I want to start to narrow down. But, as of now, I’m pretty open.”
