Purdue in the Pros: Week 17
Several former Boilermakers are making an impact on Sundays this fall. Some play prominent roles, while others struggled their way through training camp. Today, GoldandBlack.com looks at how former Purdue players fared in Week 17 of the NFL Season.

DERRICK BARNES – DETROIT LIONS
As Detroit fell to Minnesota on Christmas Day, Barnes finished with five tackles while playing 53 out of 54 defensive snaps. Eliminated from playoff contention, the Lions will close their season with a Sunday 1 p.m. EST showdown with Chicago.
PAYNE DURHAM – TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
The third-year tight end continues to serve almost exclusively as a blocking tight end, recording no stats in Tampa Bay’s 20-17 loss to Miami. The Buccaneers host the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. EST this Saturday to close the season.
CHARLIE JONES – CINCINNATI BENGALS
For the second straight week, Jones was a healthy scratch. This places him in a precarious position with one game to go in the season. Cincinnati will host Cleveland in an in-state battle to close the 2025 season.
SANOUSSI KANE – TENNESSEE TITANS
Tennessee signed Kane off of Baltimore’s practice squad recently after injuries in the secondary. He played on special teams and three snaps of defense in Tennessee’s 34-26 loss to New Orleans. The 3-13 Titans close their season with a 1 p.m. EST kickoff on Sunday at Jacksonville.
GEORGE KARLAFTIS – KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Karlaftis lined up for 51 of 72 defensive snaps in the Chiefs’ 20-13 loss on Christmas Night, recording two tackles and two pressures. Kansas City will wrap up its season with a trip to Las Vegas. The Chiefs will miss the playoffs for the first time in Karlaftis’ career, as he’s played in the last three Super Bowls.
MARCUS MBOW – NEW YORK GIANTS
Mbow started at left tackle in New York’s 34-10 win over Las Vegas. His rookie season will come to a close when the Giants host the Cowboys on Sunday.
