Colorado State WR Dylan Goffney transferring back to SMU where career began

Former SMU wide receiver Dylan Goffney, who spent the past two years at Colorado State, is transferring back to play for the Mustangs, On3 has learned.
In 2024, Goffney played in four games, including one start at Texas. He caught six passes for 57 yards. He played in the first four games then sat out the rest of the season. In 2023, Goffney was fifth on Colorado State with 23 receptions and 298 yards with two touchdowns. That year, he played in 11 games with eight starts.
During his first run at SMU, Goffney played in 18 games over two seasons, snagging 32 balls for 500 yards and two touchdowns. The Mustangs brought in a multitude of wideouts ahead of the 2023 season and ultimately, Goffney found a new home with the Rams.

Last week, SMU added a key option in the slot with James Madison wide receiver Yamir Knight landing with the Mustangs. Goffney will have a chance to compete all over at the SMU wide receiver room that’s looking for difference makers to emerge.
Goffney played high school football at Bridgeland (Texas), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 509 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
