Former 4-star Denver Anglin commits to SMU
Georgetown freshman Denver Anglin committed to SMU, he announced. The former four-star prospect took an official visit to SMU before the Final Four.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound guard originally from Montclair, N.J. did not see much playing time this year for the Hoyas, averaging only 7.1 minutes per game and scoring 1.4 points per outing.
Programs like Miami of Ohio, SMU, Penn State, Chattanooga , Longwood, Vermont, Old Dominion, LMU, Columbia, Delaware, William and Mary, Brown, Fairfield, Elon, UPenn, George Washington and Northeastern have also shown interest.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Anglin was rated as a four-star recruit and ranked No. 107 overall in the class of 2022. He was also the No. 16 overall combo guard and the No. 3 recruit in the state of New Jersey.
Coming out of high school, Anglin received offers from Northwestern, Providence, Stanford, Brown, UConn, Miami, Seton Hall, Penn State, and others to go along with Georgetown.
Anglin, considered one of the best shooters in the 2022 class, left Georgetown after Patrick Ewing was fired. He was in attendance as Ed Cooley was introduced as the next head coach of the Hoyas.
“I want to thank my family and everyone who has supported me throughout this process,” Anglin told On3’s Joe Tipton. “I also want to thank Georgetown for the opportunity provided to me to experience higher education at a prestigious university and in an awesome city. After much consideration I am planning to enter the transfer portal to explore additional opportunities to continue to further my basketball career. As athletes we put in a lot of work and commitment. This is more than just a game, it’s life. I wish all my teammates continued success.”
