As expected, Jacksonville State transfer guard Jaron Pierre, the Conference USA Player of the Year, will withdraw from the 2025 NBA Draft, sources confirmed Jon Rothstein’s report on Wednesday. He’ll head to play for SMU for his final season of college basketball.

Pierre committed to SMU back on April 14.

No one in all of Division I basketball scored more points (777) during the regular season than Pierre, a New Orleans native. The likes of Ole Miss, Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, Alabama, Texas, Baylor, and many more also reportedly reached out to the highly sought after transfer.

During his redshirt senior season at Jacksonville State in 2024-25, Pierre averaged 21.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 37.6 minutes per outing while shooting 42.4 percent overall, 38.2 percent from deep, and 81 percent from the free-throw line. He also ranked second in the country in total minutes played (1,352).

Pierre just finished his fifth collegiate season in total with a pair apiece at Southern Miss and Wichita State with this past one being his first with Jacksonville State. In 118 games at the three schools with four total seasons played, Pierre has averaged 13.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.

Pierre’s able to play one more year of college ball due to his first season happening in 2020-21, which did not count toward a player’s eligibility as a result of the pandemic.
