JMU WR Yamir Knight commits to SMU

Yamir Knight chose SMU over Cal and Texas Tech, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Knight provides major depth and quality in the slot for the Mustangs in the 2025 season.
Knight only held two division one offers out of high school – James Madison and Akron. After a breakout season in 2024, Knight entered his name into the transfer portal. Yamir Knight was rated the No. 334 WR and the No. 3 player out from Delaware out of high school.

Knight finished 2024 with 53 catches, 605 yards, and 4 touchdowns. The junior receiver can come to SMU and compete for the starting slot position right away.
Yamir also returned 21 punts for 173 yards during the 2024 season. Punt returner is a hole the SMU staff is looking to fill and Knight could be the solution.
Knight comes to the Hilltop with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
