Jordan Hudson injury update: Starting SMU WR exits on first SMU drive

On the first play of the season opener against East Texas A&M, SMU wide receiver Jordan Hudson caught a screen pass from Kevin Jennings and landed awkwardly when he was tackled. Hudson went to the medical tent following the play. A few minutes later, Hudson headed to the locker room for further evaluations.
Coach Lashlee gave an injury update on Jordan Hudson at halftime.
“We lost Jordan on the first play of the game. He’s definitely out for this game,” Lashlee said. “Hopefully, it’s not like season-ending, but we just don’t know right now. So, a lot of these freshmen got to step up and make plays.”

True freshman Jalen Cooper came in to replace Hudson and made a couple of nice catches to begin his college career.
Kevin Jennings is excited about throwing to Jordan Hudson this season.
“Yeah, I’m super excited. I’ve been playing with Jordan Hudson for a minute,” Jennings said. “I played with him in 7-on-7 ball in high school and all of that. So I know what he had all along. And this year’s the breakout season. I’m excited for him. He’s gonna go crazy, for sure.”
Hudson finished 2024 with 422 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
