Long Beach State transfer AJ George commits to SMU

Long Beach State guard AJ George announced his commitment to SMU on Wednesday, transferring to play for Andy Enfield & Co. on the Hilltop.
The 6-6, 190-pound guard heard from the likes of Rice, Iona, USC, UT-Arlington and others. UTA was expected to host George this week while Fresno State, his hometown school, hosted him last week.
He medically redshirted 2021-22 then emerged as a consistent starter over the past two seasons. He’s got a career 54.5 percent shooting percentage, good for 37.7 percent from three-point range. This season, he averaged 10.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game as he helped LBSU to the NCAA Tournament.
Like Oregon transfer and SMU cocmmit Kario Oquendo, Enfield and his staff saw him up close in their 84-79 loss to LBSU this season. George scored 12 points, grabbed four rebounds, blocked four shots and had a steal in 35 minutes that contest.
