SMU vs. Syracuse availability report: Multiple starters questionable for Mustangs

SMU and Syracuse released the initial availability report Thursday night ahead of Saturday’s contest in Dallas. Head coach Rhett Lashlee was excited to see his team get healthier following the bye.
“Football comes with nicks and bruises,” Lashlee said Tuesday. “So a lot of those guys hopefully are feeling better. Today’s ten days since we last played. So we’ve had ten days to somewhat still get work in and all that, but hopefully get a little healthier as we go into conference play.”
The Mustangs listed as out are: S Tyren Polley, CB La’Modrick Spencer, LB Kyle Ferm, WR Meyer Pereira, TE Will Locke, WR Isaiah Robertson, DE Aakil Washington, OL Alex Woods, TE James Larson and DT Jonathan Jefferson.
Listed as questionable for SMU are: QB Tyler Van Dyke, LB Zakye Barker, TE Stone Eby, DE Jahkai Lang, LB Alexander Kilgore and OL Zion Nelson.
Probably for SMU are: WR Jordan Hudson, QB Kevin Jennings, DE Trey Wilson, RB TJ Harden, LB Brandon Miyazono, OL Logan Parr and TE RJ Maryland.
For the Orange, listed as OUT are: WR Tyshawn Russell, QB Steve Angeli, WR Darius Johnson, LB Derek McDonald, DB Nate Prater, RB Malachi James, OL Jackson Iak, OL Matthew Hawn, WR Julian McFadden and DL Rashard Perry.

A pair of Texans are questionable with WR Johntay Cook and OL Byron Washington listed with that designation, joining TE David Clement and OL Carter Clark.
Probably vs. SMU are DL Dion Wilson, Jr., LB Gary Bryant III, DB Devin Grant and OL Trevion Mack.
New for the 2025-26 academic year, ACC institutions will provide public reports on the availability of football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball student-athletes to participate in each Conference game.
Reports will identify when a student-athlete’s availability to participate in the upcoming contest is uncertain for any reason. This policy is intended to promote the well-being of student-athletes and institutional staff members, the protection of sensitive information, and the integrity of competition.
Schools will release reports at these times for conference matchups:
- Initial Report two nights before the game, no later than 8:00 p.m. local time
where the game will be played (e.g., Thursday night for a Saturday game). - Update Report the night before the game, no later than 8:00 p.m. local time
where the game will be played (e.g., Friday night for a Saturday game). - Game Day Report no later than two (2) hours before the scheduled game time.
SMU and Syracuse kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday on the ACC Network from Ford Stadium.
