Week 3 is in the books and we’re seeing a serious uptick in some SMU players in the NFL’s performance and a downtick in others, while some ponies are also reconnecting on the field.

Here’s the Week 3 update for SMU Players in the NFL…

Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos

All I have to say is, I really hope you didn’t take it out on Sutton for his lackluster Week 2 performance in fantasy and not start him this week in your lineup. If you did, I’ll start with I am so sorry for you.

Sutton locked in six of eight targets for 118 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s 23-20 loss to the Chargers. Now that may not sound super crazy in terms of fantasy points but his touchdown was far from just any touchdown. How about a 52-yard grab down the field, allowing him to post his first 100-plus yard performance of the season. Say hello to Bo Nix‘s favorite option, again.

Rashee Rice, WR, Kansas City Chiefs

Three weeks down, four to go! Rice is still serving a six-week suspension initiated at the beginning of the season, as the Chiefs finally grabbed their first win of the season of the New York Giants last week, bringing them to 1-2.

Brashard Smith, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs running back Brashard Smith (30) catches a pass as Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker (9) makes the tackle during the first half of the game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Smith’s load is slowly but surely gaining for the Chiefs, and by slowly but surely we mean he’s gone up from single digit numbers on the stat board to double digits. Smith saw two carries for 13 yards, averaging 6.5 yards on each carry in Week 3 in their 22-9 win over the Giants, up from is single carry last week.

We got you fired up on Brashard Smith in our preview of SMU players in the NFL at the start of the season, as one of two mustangs drafted in the 2025 Draft, and still believe he will be someone to keep an eye on.

Brandon Stephens, CB, New York Jets

The fifth-year veteran is also ticking his numbers up from last week, with eight total tackles on the board with six being solo tackles. One of his most notable tackles in the game was an ankle-grabbing solo tackle he held on for dear life to Bucky Irving to force a third down.

Still, the Jets Twitter-sphere was less than thrilled with the CB’s performance due to some Mike Evans touchdowns that slipped through. Still, Evans is one of the best WRs in the league. That man is bound to find the endzone one way or another.

Kelvin Beachum, LT, Arizona Cardinals

The 13 year veteran started Week 3 in place of Paris Johnson out on injury but the juju followed to Beachum who also was plagued with a knee injury in the game. Beachum is listed as questionable and was a DNP at Tuesday’s walkthrough but Wednesday was seen back on the field. This comes as an interesting blow to the Cards lineup considering another offensive lineman on this list also hit the injury report. That said, Arizona’s line might be tested this week.

Also for some fun, check out these two ponies who met up on the field to say hello! Beachum & Thomas Morstead are two ponies that are “still kicking.”

Grant Calcaterra, TE, Philadelphia Eagles

Calcaterra missed the stat board this week with no new numbers after getting on the board in Week 2 for one reception for six yards. Now the interesting thing with Calcaterra is he is competing with another Mustang on this list for targets… Scroll down to Kylen Granson to see what we mean.

Elijah Roberts, DE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

No new stats for Roberts this week after his .5 sack and single tackle in MNF in Week 2.

Evan Brown, G, Arizona Cardinals

Like Beachum, Brown also was plagued with an injury in Week 2 with his ankle giving him some grief. He also joins the Questionable list for the Cardinals hinting at a serious hole that might be present for Arizona in protecting QB Kyler Murray this week.

Kylen Granson, TE, Philadelphia Eagles

Granson competes with fellow pony Calcaterra for grabs at the TE spot but this week was a goose egg for both players. Stay tuned for Week 4.

Charles Woods, CB, New England Patriots

After no production in Week 2, Woods found the board in Week 3 for the Pats with one solo tackle.

Woods is one of six cornerbacks on New England’s roster though, so if he wants his spot to last, this is one SMU player in the NFL who is going to have to prove himself.

Zach Wood, LS, New Orleans Saints

Week 3 and Wood is still snapper No. 1 and there’s not much else to report here.

Sure, long snapper isn’t exactly a position to watch out for in fantasy means, but in terms of Mustangs in the bigs, Wood joins this list as the third longest Pony in the league behind Beachum with nine seasons. Check out his extensive history with the Saints and why he’s a team captain for the Saints here.

Thomas Morstead, P, San Francisco 49ers

Morstead kicked off Week 3 with 3 punts for an average of 42.7 yards, with his highest being 48 yards for a total of 128 yards.

Again… Punter, but hey — Not only is Morstead the most seasoned veteran on this list, entering his 16th season, he is reaching several career milestones due to his NFL longevity that most players never see. The punter is one of the oldest active players and will likely become the 10th punter to play in his 40s.

Jared Harrison-Hunte, DE, Carolina Panthers

The defensive end didn’t make the first round of roster cuts, but joined the Panthers roster just in time for the regular season. Still, Harrison-Hunte doesn’t bring any stats to the table for Week 3.

Jahfari Harvey, LDE, Las Vegas Raiders

Harvey also doesn’t bring any stats to the board for Week 3, but he is active on the Raiders roster.

James Proche II, WR, Tennessee Titans

Again, no stats, but active. Proche II rounds out our list of Mustangs active in the NFL currently.
